Answers to Common Questions

What is Envision Lebanon?

Envision Lebanon is the City of Lebanon’s comprehensive planning process. A comprehensive plan is a long-term guide that expresses the values and aspirations of a community. It is the broadest public policy document a community can create for its future physical development considering the input of residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.

Why does Lebanon need to undergo a comprehensive plan process?

Regular comprehensive planning represents good stewardship and establishes a foundation for well-supported policies to create the best possible future. The existing comprehensive plan was adopted in 2009. Changes in the City since that time call for a new plan that reflects current trends and priorities.

What will happen at the Celebrate! Open House event?

Draft plan actions developed through the Envision Lebanon process will be shared on a series of displays in a casual setting. Members of the planning team and Steering Committee will be available to answer questions one-on-one. You will have an opportunity to offer feedback and identify the actions you think are most important.

Do I have to be an expert to contribute ideas?

You are an expert if you live or work in the City of Lebanon. Who knows the community better than someone who lives or works here?

Where are we in the process?

The comprehensive plan process began in summer of 2020. Several hundred participants provided input during October’s Idea Gathering Workshop. A 28-member Steering Committee has been working with City staff and the planning team to consider input and analysis to draft the plan.

What is the timeline for completing the plan?

The plan and associated implementation strategies are anticipated to be completed in late Summer 2021.
